World Class 2013

“COCKTAIL: EST. 1820”

Johnnie Walker was a pioneer when he started mixing teas; he then became a leader in the field and grew as a successful professional. His creation made such a sensation and was profitably received by the public!

After all these years, the result is that we confront a big variety of excellent blended whiskies of J.W. family. Based on this example, I attempted to follow the principles of such a unique idea.

As a result, I tried to create a herbal blend that marries one of the last members of J. Walker family, the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve:

Therefore, perfumes of a blend and other ingredients, such as Jasmine tea, Altea root, Manzanilla and orange dried flowers, know how to accompany Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve. This mix is the basis of my cocktail.

Doing a "twist of the classic", I am creating a cocktail like the way we do at whisky sour.

Ingredients:

·         50 ml Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve

·         25 ml blended tea

·         one egg white

·         25 ml of fresh orange juice

·         2 drops of cherry bitters (“Fee Brothers”)

·         25 ml sugar syrup

·         black basil cress

·         royal jelly

·         “Ghirardelli” dark chocolate with sea salt and roasted almonds

·         a touch of white pepper

Procedure:

In a mixing glass stir whisky with tea; then, pore it at a goblet glass. After that, at a Boston shaker, dry shake with one egg white, also add 25 ml of fresh orange juice, 2 drops of cherry bitters (“Fee Brothers”) and 25 ml sugar syrup, dosage: 1 to 1. Put in the meringue to the top of the drink and afterwards, garnish with black basil cress.

Serving Method:

Roll the salivary buds with a drop of royal jelly. Add a touch of white pepper on top of the dark chocolate from the Ghirardelli family, with sea salt and roasted almonds and continue eating it.
The food tasting is completed by drinking a sip of this ice-cold sour cocktail: Taste the royal jelly, try the dark chocolate and drink your cocktail!

The name of it is: “Est. 1820”.

..Light coming from light, traced from the camera’s lens..

Sufficient time, indivisible time.

Presence from the past, dark present, insecure future..

Light, Time, Motion.

An image is created when the photographic medium captures the movement of light; at this specific moment. The buildings-objects are transformed into monuments; while the windows are either ways out or they are closing life inside them. 

The past consists of memories. It relates straightforward to the movement of life through time and the “impress” that is left, as inheritance in the present and future time. The surfaces of buildings proclaim the stories of the past, while every photographic image imprints the past, each time present, at the given time of its existence. 

Forms, planes, lines. Every element of each photograph exists for a reason and is a result of intense thought and observation. Absolutely nothing can be added or removed. What is interesting –even more with photography- is that the artist can dissolve reality and transform it throughout his own perspective, like a window with a different view.

The perfection in forms, the clarity in the lines, the firm frame, where “technical perfectionism” is not the goal but is just a tool, all these together, are cooperating, in order to succeed the originative personal expression. This group of images is a sample of “my point of view behind the lens”. All these elements create an aesthetic, which obviously is personal.

..Φως εκ φωτός, Μηχανής γραφόμενο..

Χρόνος επαρκής, αδιαίρετος.

Παρουσία από το παρελθόν, ζοφερό παρόν, αβέβαιο μέλλον..

Φως, Χρόνος, Κίνηση.

Η γραφή του φωτός με το φωτογραφικό μέσο, τη στιγμή της κίνησής του, δημιουργεί μια εικόνα. Τα αντικείμενα-κτίρια μετατρέπονται σε μνημεία, ενώ τα παράθυρα είτε είναι οδοί διαφυγής, είτε κλείνουν τη ζωή μέσα τους.

Το παρελθόν αποτελείται από μνήμες. Σχετίζεται άμεσα με την κίνηση της ζωής μέσα στο χρόνο και το «αποτύπωμα» που αυτή αφήνει ως κληρονομιά στο παρόν και στο μέλλον. Οι επιφάνειες των κτιρίων μαρτυρούν τις ιστορίες του παρελθόντος, ενώ κάθε φωτογραφική εικόνα αποτυπώνει το παρελθόν-εκάστοτε παρόν, στη δεδομένη χρονική στιγμή της ύπαρξής του.

Φόρμες, επίπεδα, γραμμές. Κάθε στοιχείο της φωτογραφίας υπάρχει για κάποιο λόγο και είναι αποτέλεσμα έντονης σκέψης και παρατήρησης. Δεν μπορεί να αφαιρεθεί ή να προστεθεί απολύτως τίποτα περισσότερο. Το ενδιαφέρον –ακόμα πιο πολύ στη φωτογραφία- είναι ότι ο καλλιτέχνης, μπορεί ν’ αλλοιώσει την πραγματικότητα και να την διαμορφώσει μέσα από τη δική του οπτική γωνία, σαν ένα παράθυρο με διαφορετική θέα.

Η τελειότητα στις φόρμες, η καθαρότητα στις γραμμές και το σφιχτό κάδρο, όπου ο «τεχνικός περφεξιονισμός» δεν αποτελεί αυτοσκοπό αλλά εργαλείο, όλα μαζί συνεργάζονται για να επιτευχθεί η δημιουργική προσωπική έκφραση. Αυτή η σειρά των φωτογραφιών είναι ένα δείγμα, του πώς βλέπω εγώ τον κόσμο μέσα απ' τον φωτογραφικό φακό. Όλα αυτά τα στοιχεία δημιουργούν μιαν αισθητική, καθαρά προσωπική.
